Sintra & Cabo de Roca

*You can decide to skip any of this spots. You will need to buy a ticket if you wish to vist the monuments from the inside. 

We will begin by doing a walking tour of the historic center, where we will unlock some of it's secrets.
At the heart of Sintra, we will find the National Palace, which has Moorish foundations dating back to the 10th century. Among many things, we will see the oldest hotel in the Iberian Peninsula, the Lawrence’s Hotel.

After that, we will walk to Quinta da Regaleira. A very enigmatic estate built from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, which some say it’s related to the Freemasons.
200 meters up the road we have Seteais Palace, built in the late 18th century for a dutch consul and has a fantastic view over the valley and the ocean.

From there, we will mount on a Jeep Commander to reach the idyllic Monserrate Palace and its beautiful gardens. Built for Sir Francis Cook in the 19th century, the palace's interior will undoubtedly carry you inside the tales of the Arabian Nights.

Continuing the mountain's road uphill, we will arrive at the Moorish Castle, a fortification built in the 9th century by the moors.
Then further up the road, we will reach Pena Palace, the crown jewel of Sintra. King D. Fernando II built this Palace in the 19th century, and it’s a true example of the romanticism presence here in Portugal.

Next stop is Convent of the Capuchos, built in the 16th century. The convent looks carved inside the rocks. It’s a very peaceful and enchanted place in the middle of the forest.
And finally, to conclude our journey, we set off to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, where the land ends and the sea begins, as Camões, the famous Portuguese poet from the 16th century, once said.
