About me

Even though I was born and raised in Lisbon, my relationship with Sintra started at a very young age. My family had a house here and I used to stay over the weekends and holidays. It felt as if all of Sintra was my playground.

Since 2008 I’ve been working with experts researching and investigating Sintra’s monuments and palaces. This has been critical for me to deepen my knowledge of the historical and geographical characteristics of Sintra and allow me to connect the history behind the forest's hidden gems.

As an example, some of this work resulted in “Sultanato da Pena”, a publication about the construction of Palácio da Pena, which brought new insights over its architectural influences. I encourage you to take a look here. 

In 2012, I decided to move permanently to Sintra. It was a landmark and transforming step in my life that made me realize that I should start sharing my knowledge and experience about this enchanted mountain. This is how Lighthawk Tours was born.

Although I study International Relations and European Studies at Lusófona University of Lisbon, becoming a tour guide turned out to be the most rewarding occupation I could get. Having the opportunity to show all its beauty and meeting people from all over the world, turned out to be just perfect!
